Ashlee Cheatley

Hello! My name's Ashlee. I'm from Philadelphia, PA, from a neighborhood called Frankford. Although I grew up in the city, I had the opportunity to attend an agricultural high school named Saul High School, where I joined the FFA (Future Farmers of America)! Everyday after my academic classes, I had at least 3 periods of "Ag-class". I majored in Large Animal science my first 3 years, and I got to work with all types of farm animals. I was able to groom horses, clean up pig pens, sheer sheep, and clean up the Dairy Barn. During my senior year, I majored in Small Animals where I learned about Lab Animals, and I had to clean Mice, Rat, Guinea Pig, Gerbil, and Hamster cages. I had to train rats as well. When most people think of Philadelphia, the last thing they think of is the largest Agriculture High School in the USA, but I was able to have such a great opportunity.
I initially chose Saul because of my love for animals. Throughout my life, I've had 3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 turtles, and 2 lizards. My current dog's name is Charlie, he's half Great Dane, half Doberman. He'll be a year old next week, and is about 4 inches taller than me when he's standing on his hind legs. My love for animals made me believe I'd always work to be a Vet! But, working with animals made me realize how difficult animals are. While at Bloomsburg, I hope to major in Biology, and one day become a pediatric oncologist. I would love to work at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital once I become an Oncologist. Another dream of mine is, once I grow up, I want to buy a house with a lot of land, and adopt all of the Pit Bulls of the Philadelphia Humane Society!

I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me! :)

  6. My friend back at home lives on a farm. It's very fascinating how much land he has. I want to possibly go into oncology too after medical school.

  7. You have some great ambitions and a large heart it sounds like. I find it inspiring that you have big dreams for yourself. I also enjoyed the picture of your dog being taller than you when he stands on his hind legs.
